UConn’s curriculum emphasizes the development of essential skills, including evaluating overall health before starting an exercise program, conducting systematic reviews of exercise testing and prescription, and delivering educational presentations on specialized topics related to exercise prescription. You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of chronic diseases and health conditions, along with how to apply the Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type (FITT) principle of exercise prescription to prevent, treat, and manage them.
Pathway to Further Education
Credits earned from the graduate certificate are transferable to UConn's Master of Science in Exercise Prescription, providing you with a clear pathway for continued advanced education. This seamless transition supports students’ long-term academic and professional goals in exercise prescription. With approval, we can accept up to six credits from previous graduate coursework, and the four certificate program courses can be applied toward the master’s degree program.
